About Check, Please!

The Check, Please! television show began airing in Chicago in 2001 on WTTW-TV, the local PBS affiliate. Each week, a diverse group of three regular Chicagoans visit and review each other’s recommended restaurants. The program has become the ultimate “word of mouth” guide to all types of eateries, and the extremely positive impact the show has on featured restaurants has been dubbed “The Check, Please! Effect” by restaurant owners. In 2005, Check, Please! Bay Area debuted in San Francisco on the PBS affiliate. The show was an immediate hit and quickly became the largest driver of traffic to the station’s website. Check. Please! Chicago has received several local Emmy awards, and the Bay Area show was honored with the prestigious 2007 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Local Television Food Show. The Check, Please! South Florida half hour TV show debuted on WPBT Miami in 2008.
