While most holes have a direct line of sight from the teeing ground, others dogleg to the left or right. If the line of sight of a hole bends twice, this is called a double dogleg. The term ‘golf links’ comes from early Scottish courses that were built up on seaside sand dunes covered with a generous layer of soil, known as links land.
The Killarney Golf and Fishing Club has three courses: Lackabane, Killeen and Mahony’s Point. The Irish open live stream was hosted at the Killeen course in the years 1991, 1992, 2010 and 2011. In 1991, Nick Faldo was one of three players to complete the course below par. Killeen was built in 1972 by splitting Mahony’s Point and adding more land. Celebrities Bing Crosby and Bob Hope were among the early players to grace the club, attracting worldwide attention and leading to the expansion.
